USP (Ultra Short Pulse)
What It Is
USP stands for Ultra Short Pulse. It is a patented delivery method developed by Cocoon Medical (Sinclair) that fires diode laser energy in pulses as short as 3ms. The ultra-short pulse duration reaches the optimal temperature to destroy the hair follicle's germination cells without heating the surrounding skin.
Why It Matters
USP is hardware-specific to Cocoon Medical devices (Primelase Excellence, Primelase HR, and Elysion Pro). Unlike generic terms like SHR which can appear on any machine, a clinic claiming USP technology should have a genuine Cocoon Medical device. However, as with other branded terms, Chinese manufacturers could copy the name. If you see USP indicated on a machine that isn't clearly Cocoon Medical or Sinclair branded, ask questions.
