What It Is

VPL is Energist Medical Group's branded IPL technology, using multiple rapid micro-pulses per flash rather than a single burst of light. Manufactured in Swansea, UK since 1999 with over 3,500 units deployed worldwide.

Why It Matters

VPL is NOT a laser. It is a form of IPL. Clinicians sometimes call it a "VPL diode laser" but this is misleading. The word "diode" refers to the light source component, not a diode laser wavelength. Energist themselves describe VPL as built on Intense Pulsed Light technology. Unlike budget IPL imports, Energist is a legitimate manufacturer. But it is still IPL, not laser.
