Overview
Cutera's 1064nm Nd:YAG laser, one of the pioneering systems for safe hair removal on darker skin types. Originally developed by Altus Medical before Cutera acquisition.
How It Works
The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength bypasses epidermal melanin to reach hair follicles safely on all skin types. Contact cooling protects the skin surface during treatment.
Typical Uses
- Darker skin types (Fitzpatrick V-VI) where other wavelengths are unsafe
- Year-round treatment including tanned skin
- Clinics serving diverse populations
Key Features
Long clinical track record for safe treatment of darker skin. The CoolGlide name became almost synonymous with Nd:YAG hair removal. Many units still in active service despite the newer excel HR being available.
