Notes
Formatk's flagship multi-technology platform: the most complete system in their lineup. Combines 808nm diode laser (ALD/LLD handpieces), 1064nm Nd:YAG pure diode laser, and 10 IPL USP (Ultra Short Pulse) applicators (430-1100nm) on one platform. Hair removal is done via the diode laser handpieces (real 808nm laser) or the Nd:YAG (1064nm, suited for darker skin). IPL handles skin rejuvenation, vascular/pigmented lesions, acne, and can also do hair removal on lighter skin types. The 1064nm Nd:YAG is unique to the Magma: not available on the Alpha or Spark. 3 interchangeable tips on the Nd:YAG for precision on different vascular lesion sizes, with integrated contact cooling (first long-pulse Nd:YAG with this feature per Formatk). Includes MILO digital melanin meter. Israeli manufacturer (Tirat Carmel), founded in 2008 by Ilan Toledano. Distributed in North America by Aesthetic Management Partners and DermaSpark (Canada).
Overview
Formatk's flagship multi-technology platform combining three distinct light sources: an 808nm diode laser for hair removal, a 1064nm Nd:YAG pure diode laser for vascular lesions and darker skin hair removal, and 10 IPL USP (Ultra Short Pulse) applicators for skin rejuvenation, pigmented/vascular lesions, and acne. This is the most complete system Formatk offers. The Alpha strips out the Nd:YAG, and the Spark strips out everything except the diode laser.
How It Works
The LLD handpiece delivers 808nm diode laser energy (up to 35 J/cm²) for hair removal via PowerMotion (a high-fluence in-motion technique enabling single-pass treatments). The ALD handpiece offers an alternative 808nm spot size. The 1064nm Nd:YAG pure diode treats vascular lesions (telangiectasias, leg veins, cherry angiomas) with up to 440 J/cm², plus hair removal on darker skin. Ten IPL USP applicators span 430-1100nm: HR filters (650nm/590nm cutoffs) for hair removal, SR filters (530nm) for pigmented/vascular lesions, and AC filters (430nm) for acne. MILO digital melanin meter provides in-vivo skin typing. Golden-Touch contact cooling protects the skin.
Typical Uses
- Clinics wanting a comprehensive multi-technology platform with real laser hair removal
- Practices needing Nd:YAG for vascular lesions and darker skin types
- Medical practices wanting to consolidate hair removal + vascular + skin rejuvenation + acne on one device
- Clinics in US, Canada, UK, Europe, and France where Formatk is present
Key Features
The Magma's key advantage over the Alpha is the 1064nm Nd:YAG pure diode laser: ideal for vascular lesions and safe hair removal on darker skin types. The Nd:YAG features 3 interchangeable tips and integrated contact cooling (a first for long-pulse Nd:YAG per Formatk), delivering up to 440 J/cm². IPL USP technology claims the highest pulse density on the market. All three light sources share the MILO melanin meter and Golden-Touch cooling platform. This is the largest and most expensive system in Formatk's lineup.
