Notes
Diode laser-only version of the Magma platform. Uses the same 808nm ALD and LLD laser handpieces as the full Magma, but without the 1064nm Nd:YAG or IPL applicators. This makes it a purpose-built hair removal device. FDA cleared as Special 510(k) under K162781 with K153566 as predicate. Includes MILO melanin meter and PowerMotion delivery. Israeli manufacturer. May also appear marketed as 'Alpha Magma Spark Pro' on reseller sites. This is the predecessor/sibling to the Alpha, which added IPL back into the mix.
Overview
The Magma Spark is the diode laser-only member of the Formatk Magma family. It uses the same 808nm ALD and LLD laser handpieces found on the full Magma platform but strips away the Nd:YAG laser and all IPL applicators. The result is a focused, purpose-built hair removal device at a lower price point than the full Magma.
How It Works
Two 808nm diode laser handpieces, ALD (Advanced Laser Diode) and LLD (Large Laser Diode), deliver energy for hair removal. The LLD offers up to 35 J/cm². PowerMotion in-motion delivery enables single-pass treatments. MILO melanin meter provides objective skin typing. Golden-Touch contact cooling protects the epidermis during treatment.
Typical Uses
- Clinics focused exclusively on laser hair removal without needing skin rejuvenation capabilities
- Practices wanting a purpose-built 808nm diode at a lower price than the full Magma
- Entry point into the Formatk ecosystem with upgrade path to Alpha or Magma
Key Features
As a diode laser-only device, the Spark is classified as a purpose-built hair removal laser, unlike the hybrid Alpha and Magma. Same proven 808nm diode technology and PowerMotion delivery as its siblings, but without the added complexity and cost of IPL and Nd:YAG components. The Spark appears on some reseller sites as 'Alpha Magma Spark Pro' which can cause confusion with the separate Alpha System.
