Notes

Venus Concept's multi-application IPL platform. This is NOT a laser. Uses Intense Pulsed Light with SmartPulse technology. Hair removal is one of many applications including photofacials, acne treatment, skin resurfacing, and wrinkle reduction. FDA-cleared for hair removal on Fitzpatrick I-IV only.

Overview

Venus Concept's multi-application Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) platform. This is NOT a laser. It uses broad-spectrum light with SmartPulse technology for hair removal alongside photofacials, acne treatment, skin resurfacing, and wrinkle reduction. Venus Concept sells both this IPL device and true diode lasers (Velocity, Epileve).

How It Works

Uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) with interchangeable applicators for different treatments. Hair removal applicators (HR650, HR690) use broad-spectrum light filtered to target melanin. SmartPulse technology aims to deliver consistent energy per pulse. Contact cooling protects the skin surface.

Typical Uses

  • Multi-service clinics wanting diverse treatments from one platform
  • Practices prioritizing versatility over dedicated hair removal performance
  • Light to medium skin tones only (Fitzpatrick I-IV for hair removal)

Key Features

Important distinction: Venus Concept makes BOTH this IPL device AND true diode lasers (Venus Velocity, Venus Epileve). If your clinic uses Venus Concept equipment for hair removal, ask specifically whether it is the Versa (IPL) or Velocity/Epileve (real diode laser). The Venus name alone does not guarantee laser treatment. IPL hair removal typically requires more sessions than true laser for comparable results.
