This is NOT a laser. The Venus Versa Pro is an updated version of the Venus Versa, using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with SmartPulse technology. It is a multi-application platform with interchangeable applicators: HR650/HR650XL and HR690/HR690XL for hair removal, SR515 and SR580 for photorejuvenation, AC Dual for acne, NanoFractional RF (Viva) for skin resurfacing, and DiamondPolar/OctiPolar for wrinkle reduction and skin tightening. The 'Pro' designation adds the Venus Viva MD NanoFractional RF applicator and enhanced capabilities over the standard Versa. Hair removal is limited to Fitzpatrick I-IV. Venus Concept also makes true diode lasers (Velocity, Epileve) which work on all skin tones. Shares FDA clearance with the standard Venus Versa. The TriBella treatment protocol combines IPL, RF, and (MP)2 in a single session. Max output energy listed at 124 mJ/pin for the NanoFractional applicator.
Overview
An updated version of Venus Concept's multi-application IPL platform. This is NOT a laser. It uses broad-spectrum Intense Pulsed Light with SmartPulse technology, plus NanoFractional RF and (MP)2 radio frequency. Hair removal is one of many capabilities, alongside photofacials, acne treatment, skin resurfacing, and wrinkle reduction.
How It Works
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) works differently from a laser. Instead of a single precise wavelength, it fires a broad spectrum of light filtered through different applicators. For hair removal, the HR650 and HR690 applicators filter out shorter wavelengths and deliver light above 650nm or 690nm to target melanin in the hair follicle. SmartPulse technology aims to optimize each pulse for consistent energy delivery. A real-time cooling system monitors the light-guide temperature 1,000 times per second to protect the skin.

Critical to understand: this is IPL, not laser. Venus Concept also sells true diode lasers (Venus Velocity, Venus Epileve) that work on all skin tones and are purpose-built for hair removal. If your clinic says they use 'Venus' for hair removal, ask whether it is the Versa/Versa Pro (IPL, Fitzpatrick I-IV only) or the Velocity/Epileve (diode laser, all skin tones). IPL hair removal generally requires more sessions than true laser for comparable results.
